Giotto e compagni
The precursor to the Renaissance at the Louvre Giotto di Bondone (1266–1337), AKA Giotto, was an Italian painter and architect from Florence He is generally considered the first in a line of great artists who contributed to the Italian Renaissance. Giotto left behind a large body of work which marked a new era in painting. The painter was responsible for the frescoes in the Church of Santa Croce in Florence, the Church of St. Francis in Assisi and the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua. He also executed many works in Rome, including in St. Peter's Basilica. The Louvre Museum pays a tribute to Giotto through this exhibition which combines drawings, paintings and sculptures.
